Optimize exploration and development operations

Petrel E&P Software Platform helps increase reservoir performance by improving asset team productivity. Geophysicists, geologists, and reservoir engineers can develop collaborative workflows and integrate operations to streamline processes.

Benefits

Unify workflows for E&P teams—Eliminate the gaps in traditional systems that require handoffs from one technical domain to the next using Petrel model-centric workflows in a shared earth model.
Manage risk and uncertainty—Easily test multiple scenarios, analyze risk and uncertainty, capture data relationships and parameters to perform rapid updates as new data arrives, and perform detailed simulation history matching.
Enable knowledge management and best practices—Reduce workflow learning curves by capturing best practices via the Workflow Editor, providing quick access to preferred workflows and increasing ease of use through intuitive and repeatable workflows.
Accelerate innovative software development—Seamlessly integrate your intellectual property into the Petrel workflow through the open Ocean framework. This environment leverages .NET tools and offers stable, user-friendly interfaces for efficient development, allowing focus on innovation rather than infrastructure.

Venting - outbreating due to liquid moment calculation as API 2000 - 2009

API STD 2000-2009, Calculation for max. flow rates for Normal Outbreathing
(Refer Section 4.3.2, Calculation of maximum flow rates for normal outbreathing & normal inbreathing)
Outbreathing due to Liquid Movement In

Vop - Vpf

where:

Vop = outbreathing due to liquid movement in, Nm3/h of AIR
Vpf = Volumetric filling rate of the tank, m3/h

Notes:

1. For products containing more volatile components or dissolved solids (e.g. oil spiked with methane), perform a flash calculation & increase the out-breathing venting requirements accordingly.

2. For products stored above 40°C or with a vapor pressure greater than 5.0 kPa (abs.), increase the out-breathing

Thermal Outbreathing

Vot = Y x Vth^ 0. 9 x Ri

where:

VOT = Thermal Outbreathing during heating up, Nm3/h of AIR
Y = Factor that depends on vapor pressure, average storage temperature & latitude, dimensionless
Vtk = Total tank Volume, m3
Ri = Reduction factor for insulation, dimensionless

Table for Y-factor

See table 1 of API 2000 - 2009

Reduction factor Ri for insulation (Uninsulated or Fully insulated)
Uninsulated

Ri = 1

Fully insulated Common insulation materials

Ri = Rin

Ri = 1/[ 1+(h x lin)/λin]

where:
h = inside heat transfer coefficient, W/m2-K
(Typical value for tanks: 4 W/m2-K)
lin = Thickness of insulation, m
λin = Thermal conductivity of the insulation, W/m-K

Partially insulated

Ri = Rinp

Rip = Ainp / Atts x Rin + [1 + Ainp/Atts]

where:
Ainp = Total tank surface area (shell and roof), m2
Atts = Insulated surface area, m2
